Executive Director of Communications and Information Technology
Hunter Gresham is a native of Gate City, Virginia, and comes from a family with deep roots in the Hokie Nation. While she didn’t attend Virginia Tech, opting for a different shade of orange at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, she’s been a Hokie employee for nearly two decades.
After completing her bachelor’s degree in public relations and journalism with summa cum laude status in only three years, Hunter went on to travel the world as a student ambassador and lead performer with the international organization Up with People. Traveling to 13 countries and living with 65 different host families, Hunter gained an appreciation for cultural awareness and the beauty of diversity and caught the travel bug.
Hunter serves Virginia Tech and the Division of Student Affairs as Executive Director of Communications and Information Technology. During her tenure with Virginia Tech, Hunter has served in a variety of unique roles including as project manager for A Concert for Virginia Tech following the April 16 campus tragedy, special events director during the university’s successful $1 billion comprehensive Invent the Future campaign, and as Chief of Staff to the Vice President for Student Affairs. She’s had the opportunity to work with notable personalities such as the Rev. Jesse Jackson, the Dave Matthews Band, and Virginia Tech alumna and NBC’s The Today Show host Hoda Kotb.
Hunter lives in Blacksburg, Virginia, and spends non-work time enjoying the individualism and interests of her three daughters. In addition, she still loves traveling, learning about diverse cultures, music, and a daily dash of glitter.
